Kansas Tennis to Host Pair of Ranked Big 12 Opponents

LAWRENCE, Kan. –

After splitting matches in its opening weekend of Big 12 Conference play, the Kansas women’s tennis team returns home to host No. 60 Colorado and No. 67 Missouri at First Serve Tennis Center in Lawrence, Kan.

Kansas (6-6 overall and 1-1 in Big 12 action) is most recently coming off of a a 6-1 loss to Nebraska and a 5-2 win over Iowa State. Five Jayhawks won their singles matches against Iowa State to overcome the early 1-0 deficit from losing the doubles point.

KU hosts Colorado at 2 p.m. on Friday. Colorado boasts a 5-5 record (2-0 in Big 12 play) and defeated both Oklahoma and Oklahoma State this past weekend, 4-3. At the No. 2 and No. 3 positions, Melisa Esposito and Abbie Probert will most likely take on KU’s freshman Ekaterina Morozova (6-6) and senior Yuliana Svistun (7-5).

Missouri recently dropped a difficult 4-3 match to Oklahoma State, but looks to bounce back with a dual at Kansas State before traveling to Lawrence to face the Jayhawks at 11 a.m on Sunday. The Tigers are now 5-5 overall and 1-1 in the Big 12 Conference.

Kansas will take to the road again after this weekend when it tours the state of Oklahoma. The Jayhawks will face the Oklahoma Sooners at 6 p.m. Friday and the Oklahoma State Cowgirls at 11 a.m. on Sunday.
