Kansas Reliever Bochy Named to National All-Star Lineup

March 17, 2010

LUBBOCK, Texas –

Kansas junior relief pitcher Brett Bochy has been named to this week’s National All-Star Lineup by the College Baseball Foundation. This marks the first time a Jayhawk has been selected to the national weekly honor roll this season.

Bochy, a redshirt junior from Poway, Calif., earned a pair of saves in KU’s series victory over No. 1-ranked LSU this past weekend. Bochy was called on to pitch 3 2/3 innings of relief, and he retired 11 of the 13 men he faced, including five via strikeout, allowing no runs and no hits. This season, Bochy has pitched 10 1/3 innings, and allowed one unearned run on two hits with four walks and 19 strikeouts.

He becomes the sixth Jayhawk pitcher in the last three seasons to earn the distinction, joining Shaeffer Hall, Paul Smyth (twice) and T.J. Walz (twice).

Kansas will look to split a two-game series at Tulane this afternoon at 1 p.m.
