Postgame Quotes

Oklahoma State 3, Kansas 1

March 18, 2011 – Lawrence, Kan.

Kansas Head Coach Ritch Price:

On the Jayhawk pitching:

“I was really pleased with the way we pitched today. I thought T.J. Walz gave us a quality start against a team that is playing at a Top 25 level and I was pleased with Frank Duncan out of the bullpen. That’s a big step forward for that young man. He pitched two great innings at Arkansas Tuesday and that’s a Top 10 team and then he threw well today.”

On the team’s offensive struggles:

“We just have to keep grinding. We had opportunities to score and we couldn’t get that clutch hit. It’s kind of contagious. When you can get that first one you have a chance to get that second or third one. We have to stay positive and hope our guys keep getting better.”

On T.J. Walz performance:

“I think he did a really nice job of locating his pitches (later in the game). He used both sides of the plate and was down in the zone. He mixed in his breaking ball and his changeup. They (Oklahoma State) had some really good at bats in the (fourth) inning when they strung three hits together and put that three-spot up. That was a tremendous performance by (Walz).”
