Kansas Tennis Drops Match to No. 60 Colorado, 5-2

March 20, 2009

LAWRENCE, Kan. –

Two Jayhawks pulled out wins in singles action, but it wasn’t enough to overcome the No. 60 Colorado Buffaloes as Kansas tennis fell, 5-2, at First Serve Tennis Center Friday afternoon.

The loss drops Kansas to 6-7 on the season and 1-2 in Big 12 play while improving Colorado to 6-5 overall and 3-0 in the conference.

Julie Svistun dispatched her opponent, 6-2, 7-5, while Maria Martinez battled to three sets with Michala Jensen to claim the second singles victory for the Jayhawks. The damage had already been done, however, as KU once again dropped the doubles match point to start off down, 1-0 and lost four of the six matches in singles action.

Kansas looks to rebound against Border Showdown rival Missouri at 11 a.m. at First Serve Tennis Center on Sunday.
