Jayhawks Lead Bison 41-34 at the Half

MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. – Kansas leads North Dakota State 41-34 at halftime in the first round of the 2009 NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament at the HHH Metrodome. Sherron Collins leads all scorers with 17 points. Cole Aldrich added eight points and five rebounds in the opening period.

True to their reputation, the Bison came out gunning and scored their first nine points from beyond the arc. Overall, NDSU scored 21 of their first half points from long range. Summitt League Player of the Year Ben Woodside leads the Bison attack with 16 points.

Overall, Kansas is shooting 55.9 percent on 19-of-34 shooting, while North Dakota State is making 43.3 percent of its shots on 13-of-30 shooting (7-of-13 from the 3-point line). On the boards, Kansas leads 20-16. Kansas has turned the ball over just twice, while NDSU has five miscues – including four from Woodside.

The game was tied at 25 with 7:21 on the clock, but Kansas went on a 16-7 run to close the half.
