No. 10 Baylor Hands KU Tennis Second Big 12 Loss with 6-1 Rout

Dylan Windom earned a win in sixth-singles Sunday afternoon at the Baylor Tennis Center, but the 10th-ranked Bears overpowered the Jayhawks, and Kansas tennis fell 6-1.
The Jayhawks are now 0-2 to open Big 12 Conference play and moved to 6-6 overall. The Bears improved their records to 11-3 overall and 1-1 in Big 12 play.
Baylor took a 1-0 lead after the Jayhawks were swept in singles for the second-straight match. Monica Pezzotti and Paulina Los were blanked to start off the doubles competition in third-doubles and the No. 2 match went to Baylor as Taylor Ormond and Diana Nakic downed Sara Lazarevic and Erin Wilbert 8-1 in the second match to clinch the doubles point.
No. 1 doubles duo Ekaterina Morozova and Dylan Windom played tough but were downed by Nina Secerbegovic and Karolina Filipiak, 6-4.
KU continued to struggle in singles, as no Jayhawk won more than four matches in any set. Windom captured the final match of the day, defeating Abby Stainback 6-3, 6-2 in No. 6 singles, giving the Jayhawks their sole point.
Sara Lazarevic went down first, falling 6-0, 6-1 to No. 119 Jelena Stanivuk in No. 3 singles. Monica Pezzotti followed with a 6-1, 6-2 loss to No. 44 Diana Nakic in the second spot. No. 116 Karolina Filipiak sealed the Baylor win with a 6-1, 6-2 defeat of Los in the No. 4 match.
Wilbert was downed by Ormond 6-0, 6-3 in the No. 5 match and Morozova battled hard against No. 34 Secerbegovic but was defeated in the end, 6-4, 6-2.
Kansas will return home next weekend to continue their tough Big 12 stretch against Texas and Texas A&M. Both teams have been mainstays in the Campbell’s ITA College Tennis Rankings this season, with the Longhorns currently ranked No. 22 and the Aggies checking in at No. 26.
Texas will visit the Jayhawk Tennis Center Saturday, at 12 p.m., and the Aggies will follow Sunday morning at 11 a.m.
