Impending Weather Cancels Softball Home Opener
March 20, 2013
Kansas softball will have to wait a little longer to open the home portion of its schedule as head coach Megan Smith announced that the Jayhawks’ doubleheader against Missouri State has been cancelled.
Kansas (21-7) and Missouri State (10-14) were originally scheduled to play Thursday, March 21, beginning at 3 p.m. At this time, a decision about a possible make-up date has not been reached.
The Jayhawks have spent the first six weeks and 28 games of the season on the road, building an NCAA-leading .383 team batting average along the way. Inclement weather in Thursday’s forecast, however, has forced the delay of the Jayhawks’ anticipated debut at home.
Kansas will stay at home to open the Big 12 Conference season against the ninth-ranked Texas Longhorns, March 28-30. Game times for the three-game series are set for 5 p.m., 5 p.m. and 11 a.m.
