Impending Weather Cancels Softball Home Opener

March 20, 2013

Kansas softball will have to wait a little longer to open the home portion of its schedule as head coach Megan Smith announced that the Jayhawks’ doubleheader against Missouri State has been cancelled.

Kansas (21-7) and Missouri State (10-14) were originally scheduled to play Thursday, March 21, beginning at 3 p.m. At this time, a decision about a possible make-up date has not been reached.

The Jayhawks have spent the first six weeks and 28 games of the season on the road, building an NCAA-leading .383 team batting average along the way. Inclement weather in Thursday’s forecast, however, has forced the delay of the Jayhawks’ anticipated debut at home.
