The Jayhawks improve to 14-11 overall, while the Bears drop to 6-10.

Snowden’s pinch hit home run was the first by a Jayhawk player since Justin Ellrich came off the bench and hit a round tripper against Kansas State on April 26 of last year. It was also the junior’s first career homer.

Kyle Murphy, John Allman and Ryne Price all had two hits to lead the Jayhawks attack. Junior Andres Esquibel improved to 4-1, picking up the win in relief, while Sophomore Paul Smyth earned his fourth save of the season, setting the Bears down in order in the ninth.

The second game of the twinbill will begin at approximately 4:10 p.m.
