Kansas Women's Tennis Rolls Georgia Southern, 4-0

HILTON HEAD ISLAND, S.C. – Kansas women’s tennis blanked Georgia Southern, 4-0, Thursday afternoon in Hilton Head, S.C. The shutout victory improved KU’s dual match record to 7-3 on the season.

For the second-straight day, the Jayhawks took the doubles point by claiming wins at No. 1 and No. 2 doubles. Dylan Windom and Maria Jose Cardona registered an 8-1 win over Georgia Southern’s Paolo Garrido and Mary Phillips Smith on court No. 1, while Paulina Los and Maria Belen Ludueña defeated GSU’s Natalie Maffett and Stephi Woods, 8-6, at the No. 2 spot.

Jordana Klein and Caitlin Kitchen knocked off the KU duo of Victoria Khanevskaya and Anastasija Trubica, 8-7, on the third doubles court, but the Jayhawks had already claimed the doubles point on their way to an early 1-0 lead in the match.

The 68th rated Jayhawks then dominated in singles action, picking up wins on courts two, four and six to pick up their seventh win of the season. KU’s Ludueña picked up a win on court two with a 6-3, 7-5 win over GSU’s Klein. Windom collected a 6-2, 6-2 victory over Smith on court four and Khanevskaya tallied a 6-2, 6-0 triumph over Fran Norregaard on court six.

KU will look to stay perfect on its’ trip to the South Carolina island with a match versus Nebraska-Omaha Friday. First serve is scheduled for 8 a.m.
