A Look at Nebraska
Fresh off a 2005 trip to the College World Series and Big 12 tournament championship, the Huskers enter the series ranked #2 in the country with a 15-2 record and riding an 11-game winning streak. Due to inclement weather, Nebraska’s last game was a 3-0 victory over South Dakota State on Friday, March 17.
All-American Joba Chamberlain is scheduled to take the mound in Friday’s series opener. The junior righty is 2-1 on the year with a 1.29 ERA in three starts. NU will concluded the series with sophomore All-American Johnny Dorn (3-1, 3.33 ERA) on the hill Sunday.
As a team, the Cornhuskers are hitting .316 with 24 home runs. Newcomers Nick Jaros (.389) and Luke Gorsett (.381) lead the team in hitting. Jaros was a junior college teammate of KU’s Ross Kelling at MapleWoods CC while Gorsett was coached at Garden City CC by KU assistant Rick Sabath.
