Barbee and Hopfinger Lead the Jayhawks During Round Two at the Ron Moore Invitational

Freshmen Brad Hopfinger and Nate Barbee fired a pair of 68’s to lead the Kansas men’s golf team during the second round of play at the Ron Moore Invitational in Goodyear, Ariz. The team was able to move up three spots to 11th place after shooting a second-round 285.<?xml:namespace prefix=”o” ns=”urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office”?>

“Both Brad and Nate really stepped up for us today,” said head coach Kit Grove. “Brad played solid all day and Nate really caught fire on the back nine.

Hopfinger’s 68 marks the second best round his career and his second under-par round of the event. He now stands five under-par in the event and is tied for 10th place.

Barbee’s 68 also marks the second best round of his career. He is tied for 15th place after two rounds with a total of 140.

Junior Zach Pederson shot his second consecutive round of 74 and is tied for 57th place after round two. Junior Walt Koelbel carded a 75 and is tied for 59th place. Junior Brandon Hermreck shot a 79 and is now tied for 73rd place.

San Diego maintained its team lead after shooting a second-round score of 278. Troy Merritt of Boise State is the individual leader with a total of 131 strokes.
