KU Athletics Announces New Coach of Rock Chalk Dance Team

Kansas Athletics today announced the addition of Tara Wells as Head Coach of the Rock Chalk Dance Team. Wells is from Kansas City, Mo., and a graduate of Northwest Missouri State University where she earned a degree in Public Relations. While at Northwest Missouri State, she was a member of the Bearcat Stepper dance team for three years and captain for two.

Wells has experience in numerous dance competitions, and has received scholarships from dance conventions including L.A. Dance Force, Tremaine, NYC Dance Alliance, L.A. Underground and Dance Magic. Additionally, she has choreographed for several studios, schools, and universities in the Kansas City area. She currently teaches jazz, hip hop, and lyrical at Miller Marley School of Dance and Voice in Overland Park, KS. She has also coached for Olathe East Talons Drill team.

“I am very proud and honored to be coaching the Rock Chalk Dance team. I know when these athletes take the field, court, or stage you can expect see dedication, passion, and talent wrapped up in one performance,” Wells said.
