March 24, 2005

LAWRENCE, Kan. –

Future Kansas men’s basketball players Julian Wright, Micah Downs and Mario Chalmers will get some local attention as KLWN Radio in Lawrence will broadcast live from the McDonald’s High School All-American game March 30, at the Joyce Center on the campus of Notre Dame.

Brian Hanni and Jud Easterday will call the action for KLWN Radio (1320 AM). The future KU trio will play for the West Team in the 28th annual event. The game will air on ESPN with the McDonald’s Jam Fest starting at 6 p.m. (Central) and the game tipping at 7 p.m.

Chalmers, Downs and Wright mark the first time Kansas will have three representatives in the same McDonald’s All-American contest. The trio gives KU 26 McDonald’s All-Americans, with the last current Jayhawk J.R. Giddens and former player David Padgett in 2003. Additionally, North Carolina and Duke join KU in having the most representatives on the prestigious 24-man listing in 2005.
