Kansas Women's Golf to Compete in MountainView Collegiate

LAWRENCE, Kan.—Kansas women’s golf travels to Tucson, Ariz., for the MountainView Collegiate hosted by Colorado at MountainView Golf Course March 25 and 26.

KU last competed in the MountainView in 2008 with current Jayhawks Meghna Bal and Grace Thiry finishing 43rd and 76th respectively. Kansas last won the event in 2006.

“This is a strong tournament for us as there are a lot of teams from the Big 12,” said Kansas head coach Erin O’Neil. “It will be a great chance for us to see where we stand.”

The Jayhawks will face strong competition with five teams currently ranked in the top 50 by Golf Week competing in the event including Arkansas (13), IowaState (16), Oklahoma (20), Colorado (28) and Minnesota (38). The rest of 18 team field consists of Baylor, Colorado State, Gonzaga, Indiana, Kansas State, Missouri, Nebraska, OregonState, San Jose State, Texas State, Texas Tech and Wyoming.

Bal and Thiry will be joined in the Jayhawk lineup by Katy Nugent, Meghan Potee and Thanuttra Boonraksasat.

“We’ve had a few weeks of solid practices,” said O’Neil. “Our goal will be to play smart and confidently throughout this event.”
