Kansas Rowing Begins Fall Season at SMU Dual

Dallas, Texas– The University of Kansas rowing team began its spring season with a dual against Southern Methodist University on Thursday, March 24, 2005. Kansas is in the final days of spring training in Texas.
The race, which began at 4:00 p.m. on the White Rock Lake, featured Kansas taking the top spot in four of the five races. Kansas entered one boat in each of the races except the Novice Eight race where the “A” boat placed first with a time of 4:02.91 and the “B” boat placed third with a time of 4:53.42. In the second novice race of the day, the Novice Four, Kansas come away with a first place time of 4:53.60.
Kansas’ closest victory came in the Varsity Four “A” race with a time of 4:21.63, followed by SMU with a time of 4:21.89. Kansas also earned a first place finish in the Varsity Eight with a time of 3:47.65. The only loss of the day came in the last race, the Varsity Four “B.” Kansas came away with a second place finish with a time of 4:33.79. That time came in close behind the first place finish of 4:25.77 for SMU.
Kansas will next be in action against Big 12 rival Texas on Saturday, March 26. The race will begin at 9:00 a.m. with the First and Second Novice Eight races followed by the First and Second Varsity Eight races at 9:45.
