Jayhawk Tennis Travels to Oklahoma for Conference Match-Ups

March 25, 2009

LAWRENCE, Kan. –

Following two disappointing conference losses at home last weekend, the Kansas women’s tennis team (6-8 overall, 1-3 in Big 12) will tour the state of Oklahoma March 28-30 looking for its second and third Big 12 conference wins of the season.

The Jayhawks dropped 5-2 matches to both Colorado and Missouri at First Serve Tennis Center, but hope to rebound against the Oklahoma Sooners and the Oklahoma State Cowgirls. Senior Yuliana Svistun looks to continue her winning ways after she was the only Jayhawk to capture wins in both her singles matches. Svistun now has a season record of 9-5 in singles play, the best record on the team.

Oklahoma (6-9 overall, 0-3 in Big 12 play) most recently dropped a 5-2 decision to then-No. 36 Texas A&M in College Station, Texas. The Sooners dual with the Jayhawks will be their first home conference match of the season. The match is set to start at 6 p.m. Friday, March 28.

No. 70 Oklahoma State (7-8 overall. 1-3 in the Big 12) is coming off a 5-2 loss to then-No. 27 Texas in Austin, Texas. The Cowgirls will host Kansas State on Friday, March 28, before welcoming the Jayhawks to the DeBois Tennis Complex on Sunday, March 30. Match time is 11 a.m.
