Kansas Women's Golf Tied for Eighth at Briar's Creek Invitational Heading into Day 2

JOHN’S ISLAND, S.C. – Kansas’ women’s golf team sits tied for eighth heading into the second day of the Briar’s Creek Invitational at the Golf Club at Briar’s Creek here Monday. Second-round play was suspended with about six holes remaining and will continue Tuesday beginning at 8:15 a.m. (ET). The final round of play to follow thereafter. Players battled course conditions on Monday with winds from 25-30 miles an hour and gusts up to 40 mph.

Coastal Carolina shot a morning-round 305 (+15) and Kansas was in second place with a 309 (+20) in the 18-team field. But KU could not hold on to its first-round momentum and sits tied for eighth with Augusta State at +41. Coastal Carolina also faltered in the afternoon and is tied with East Carolina and Notre Dame for the team lead at +33 heading into Tuesday.

Individually, Kansas junior Thanuttra Boonraksasat shot a 1-over 73 in her opening round. She is tied for seventh in the 98-golfer field at +6 heading into Tuesday. Rosie Davies of Indiana and Brittany Henderson of Coastal Carolina are tied for the individual lead at +2.

KU freshman Yupaporn Kawinpakorn shot a morning round 79 and is tied for 23rd at +10, while junior Meghan Potee is tied for 31st at +12, sophomore Minami Levonowich tied for 35th at +13 and sophomore Gabby DiMarco 96th at +34. Every KU golfer has six holes remaining in their second round.
