Swimmer Bunting Honored with Women's Recognition Award

LAWRENCE, Kan. –

Senior swimming and diving captain Joy Bunting has been recognized as the 2011 Outstanding Woman Student in Athletics as part of The University of Kansas Women’s Recognition Program. This award honors a woman undergraduate or graduate student who has actively participated in KU athletic organizations and has contributed to the development of women’s intercollegiate or intramural athletics. It acknowledges the importance of these achievements to the campus and community at large.

“We are thrilled for Joy’s achievement,” Kansas head coach Clark Campbell said. “She is a great role model for all women.”

The University of Kansas Women’s Recognition Program is sponsored by the Emily Taylor Women’s Resource Center and the Commission on the Status of Women. Bunting will be honored with the other recipients at the Women’s Recognition Program Tuesday, April 5th at 7:30 p.m. in the Big 12 Room of the Kansas Union.
