COLUMBIA, Mo. –

The University of Kansas rallied from an eight-run deficit Sunday, but fell just short again at No. 25 Missouri. Center fielder Evan Frey hit a two-run walk-off homer to right center field in the bottom of the ninth as the Tigers upended the Jayhawks 10-9 at Taylor Stadium. <?xml:namespace prefix=”o” ns=”urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office”?>

MU improves to 22-8 overall and 4-2 in the Big 12, while Kansas drops to 16-17 overall and 3-6 in conference play.

After four innings of play the Jayhawks trailed 8-0, but the team chipped away and took the lead in the top of the ninth on a solo home run by Ryne Price, his second of the day, and an RBI single by Kyle Murphy.

However, with two outs in the bottom of the ninth, pinch hitter Brock Bond singled and Frey homered to right center off relief pitcher Paul Smyth.

Missouri relief pitcher Kyle Gibson was credited with the win, despite allowing the tying and go-ahead runs to score in the top of the ninth.

KU had 11 hits in the game, including three by Murphy and two each by Robby Price, Ryne Price and Preston Land. Nick Faunce, Murphy, Robby Price and Ryne Price each drove in a pair of runs for the Jayhawks.

Kansas will travel to Manhattan on Tuesday for a non-conference battle against Kansas State at 7 p.m.
