Wins over Oklahoma and OklahomaState last weekend, which improved KU’s record to 7-8, 3-2 in the Big 12, landed the Jayhawks at No. 70 in this week’s poll.<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = “urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office” />

Kansas was last in the rankings on March 11 when it was tabbed 55th after victories against then-ranked opponents New Mexico and KansasState.

Three straight losses then dropped KU from the rankings, but the Jayhawks got back on track last weekend with a 4-3 win over the Sooners and then a dominating 6-1 victory against OSU. Kansas’ three league victories already tops last season’s total of two and have the team in fifth place in the conference standings.

KU is one of six Big 12 schools that appear in this week’s poll. Leading the way is No. 4 Baylor — the Jayhawks’ next opponent — followed by No. 14 Texas, No. 30 Texas A&M, No. 62 Nebraska and No. 66 Colorado.

The Jayhawks have yet to play any of the conference’s ranked schools, with the exception of Colorado, which beat KU earlier this season.
