Hoglund Ballpark – Lawrence, KS

Kansas Head Coach Ritch Price:

On the lack of offense:

“We didn’t do a very good job of making adjustments at the plate. We try to be fastball efficient because we play in a major conference where everybody pitches with their fastball. Their guy (Tim Kelley) threw a lot of changeups and we didn’t do a very good job of staying off the ball down in the zone. When he did throw the fastball our guys were laying off balls right down the middle because they were so worried about the off-speed pitch. That was one of our worst offensive outputs of the season after the first inning.”

On Kansas drawing zero walks:

“I think part of that is the fact that they do a very good job of throwing their off-speed pitch for a strike. They threw and number of changeups and breaking balls. They did a great job of throwing off-speed pitches for strikes and we obviously did a poor job adjusting.”

On the team’s offense of late:

“I really like the way we swung the bat over the weekend. We had over 10 hits in all three games against the No. 17 team in the country (Texas A&M). But today we didn’t look like the same team swinging the bats as we did over the weekend.”
