Kansas Women's Golf to Close Out Regular Season at Ole Miss Rebel Intercollegiate

LAWRENCE, Kan. – After a week off, Kansas women’s golf will round out regular season play as it travels to Oxford, Miss., to compete in the Ole Miss Rebel Intercollegiate April 2-4. The tournament will be played on the Ole Miss Golf Course (par 72, 6,351 yards). Teams will play 18 holes each day with 8 a.m. starts Friday and Saturday and an 8:30 a.m. shotgun start on Sunday.
The tournament field consists of 20 teams, including four Big 12 teams. Among Big 12 teams competing are Missouri, Oklahoma and Texas A&M. Texas A&M is currently ranked 23rd according to Golfstat.com. Missouri ranks at 76th while Oklahoma comes in at 68th. Kansas currently sits at 83rd.
Kansas’ lineup for the event includes Meghna Bal, Grace Thiry, Jennifer Clark, Meghan Gockel and Emily Powers. Maria Jackson will compete in her second event as a Jayhawk as she joins the lineup as an individual. Jackson debuted at the Marilynn Smith Sunflower Invitational in the fall of 2008, where she finished tied for 58th with a score of 248.
Powers currently leads the team in scoring averages with a 75.29. Thiry is second on the team with a 77.08, while Bal currently holds a 77.58. Clark is averaging 78.54 strokes per round and Gockel averages 78.79.
The Jayhawks last competed in the Northern Migration Invitational March 15-17, where they finished 11th with a team score of 929. Bal lead the team with a three-round score of 231 to tie for 29th. Powers carded a 235 to tie for 47th, while Thiry chipped in a 236 as she tied for 50th. Gockel added a 238 as she tied for 61st and Clark rounded out the lineup tied for 70th with a final score of 240.
