Nebraska’s Ashley Hagemann shut down the Kansas offense as the No. 13/16 Huskers downed KU 4-0 Saturday in Big 12 Conference softball action.

Kansas dropped to 27-9 overall with the loss and remain winless in conference play at 0-5. NU improved to 29-4, including 2-1 in league games.

Nebraska did all of its scoring on a pair of home runs. In the top of third, the Huskers put two runners on base with back-to-back singles to start the frame before Tatum Edwards cleared the bags with a shot over the left field fence.

Brooke Thomason added NU’s fourth run with a solo home run to open the fifth inning.

Senior Allie Clark pitched all seven innings for Kansas, dropping to 11-5 from the circle. Clark gave up Nebraska’s four runs on seven hits and walked three batters during the game.

Hagemann held the Jayhawks without a hit until sophomore Rosie Hull singled down the left field line to open the bottom of the sixth inning. Nebraska retired KU’s next two batters and caught Hull stealing second to end the frame unscathed.

KU plated two runners in the third when freshman Kendra Cullum was hit by a pitch and sophomore Mariah Montgomery earned base on balls but again, KU could not find an offensive push to plate the runners.

KU will wrap up its series with Nebraska on Sunday, April 3 in a 1 p.m. contest at Arrocha Ballpark.
