The Fighting Illini enjoyed much success at last year’s event as they had five athletes with season-best performances and had two more set personal bests at the event. The Illini men feature All-American Gakologelwang Masheto. Masheto, the Big Ten 400-meter dash champion missed the end of the indoor season due to injury, but was selected to the 2008 Bostwana (Africa) Olympic team. The Illinois women’s program features All-Americans Aja Evans and the distance medley relay team.

Minnesota will add another tradition-rich program to the Relays this year. The women’s team, ranked 23rd in the nation in the USTFCCCA outdoor preseason polls, won the Big Ten Conference Indoor Championships for the second straight year and finished 15th at this year’s NCAA Indoor Championships. The men’s program returns from the 2007 season in which they placed second at the Big Ten Indoor and Outdoor conference championships. The Gophers are led by All-American sprinter Ibrahim Kabia.

The Seton Hall track program is led by legendary coach John Moon who enters his 36th year at the helm of the Pirates. Seton Hall will bring a very talented team to the Relays, including eight Big East Champions from last year’s squad.

The 81st Annual Kansas Relays take place April 16-19 at Memorial Stadium in Lawrence. Admission into the meet will be allowed only by those people wearing a 2008 Kansas Relays button.
