Jayhawks Head to Wichita to Compete in Diet Pepsi Shocker Classic

LAWRENCE, Kan. –
The Kansas men’s golf team, fresh off a runner-up finish at the Desert Shootout, will travel to Wichita, Kan. to compete at the Diet Pepsi Shocker Classic at Wichita Country Club April 5-6.
The Jayhawks fell to Wichita State in a playoff at the Desert Shootout and the Shockers will host the event.
“We are looking forward to playing at Wichita Country Club,” said head coach Kit Grove. “It is a traditional course that has a lot of turns and we look forward to the challenge.”
KU will once again by led by junior Nate Barbee who finished second at the Desert Shootout. Barbee recently entered the top-25 in the Golfstat Cup Standings. Barbee maintains a scoring average of 71.69 and has notched seven top-10 finishes.
Barbee will be joined by a youthful lineup that includes three freshman in Chris Gilbert, Alex Gutesha and Dan Waite. The lineup is rounded out by Senior Bryan Hackenberg.
Sophomore Blake Giroux will compete in the event as an individual. Giroux will see his first action since the Kansas Invitational in late September.
The event will include 36 holes on April 5th and then the final round will be on April 6th.
