Juniors Nicole Cauzillo and Emily Strinden provided the offensive firepower in KU’s 3-0 triumph over Marquette. Cauzillo, a junior midfielder, tallied a pair of goals, while Strinden added KU’s third goal.

“I thought we played very well in the Marquette game. We really dominated the pace and we did a good job of finishing our chances,” KU head coach Mark Francis said.

KU fell in its first match of the tournament to Iowa, 1-0. According to Francis, the Jayhawks registered more shots on goal, but could not find the back of the net. The Hawkeyes scored on a ball that was deflected off a defender as KU was trying to clear the zone.

“Overall, it was a great two games for us,” Francis said. “We did a great job with a lot of the things we’d been working on this spring.”

KU will continue its spring schedule Thursday with a 5 p.m. match against Washburn University at the Jayhawk Soccer Complex.
