Jiles, Women's 400-meter relay team Qualify for Finals

AUSTIN, Texas – Senior Julius Jiles improved his regional time in the 110-meter hurdles while Kansas’ 400-meter relay team advanced to the event’s finals on Friday during day three of the Texas Relays.

Jiles bested his regional qualifying time with an effort of 13.95 in the preliminaries of the event. The Central High School product (Kansas City, Mo.) had the second-best time in the prelims and will run in the finals of the event at 3:12 p.m. (CST) on Saturday.

Early Friday morning, Kansas’ 400-meter relay team qualified for the finals of the event with their finish of 45.19. It was the sixth-best time in the preliminary rounds. The finals are set for 2:35 p.m. on Saturday.

Sophomore Kelsey Erb finished fifth in the women’s high jump with her leap of 1.65 meters (5 feet, 5 inches), while senior Patrick McGowan was ninth in the men’s steeplechase at 9:29.01.

Kansas’ sprint medley relay teams ran for the first time this season on Friday. The women finished fourth in 3:56.11 while the men were seventh in 3:26.16.
