April 5, 2005

Lawrence, Kan. – The University of Kansas tennis team will look to snap a two-match losing streak as they host the No. 72 Tulsa Golden Hurricane on Wednesday, in Lawrence, Kan., at Robinson Courts. The match is scheduled to begin at 11 a.m.

KU enters the match with a 4-11 record and a 3-4 mark in Big 12 matches after losing to Texas Tech, 4-3, this past Sunday. Tulsa comes into the match with a 9-10 record.

The No. 1 singles match should be very competitive as KU freshman Elizaveta Avdeeva enters the match on a two-match winning streak, including a straight-set victory over Baylor’s Carolin Walter, ranked No. 79 at the time. Avdeeva is 6-8 on the season. Tulsa will counter with Daniela Muscolino at the No. 1 position. Muscolino is currently ranked No. 77 in the country and boasts a 20-9 record.

KU junior Christine Skoda will play at the No. 2 spot. Skoda is 6-9 this spring and holds a 5-2 record in Big 12 matches.

In case of rain in the Lawrence area, the match will be moved to KU’s indoor facility, the Wood Valley Racquet Club, in Topeka, Kan.

Following the match against Tulsa the Jayhawks will head to Columbia, Mo., for a Border Showdown matchup against the Missouri Tigers on Saturday. The match will begin at 11 a.m.
