KU Track and Field Teams Head to Texas Relays

April 5, 2006

LAWRENCE, Kan. –

The University of Kansas men’s and women’s track and field teams will continue the 2006 outdoor campaign by traveling to Austin, Texas, for the Texas Relays at Mike A. Myers Stadium on April 6-8. The Texas Relays are widely recognized as one of the top meets in the country. The event kicks off on Wednesday, April 5 at noon with the men’s decathlon and continues through Saturday evening, April 8.

KU has performed well thus far in the early portion of the outdoor season. At the Tulsa Duels on March 25, several Jayhawks had regionally-qualifying performances, including Julius Jiles (110-meter hurdles), Sheldon Battle (discus), Cody Roberts (discus), Stephanie Horton (shot put), Abby Emsick (discus) and Denita Young (javelin). KU will look to continue that success in Austin.

Following the Texas Relays, the Jayhawks will travel to Columbia, Mo., for the Tom Botts Invitational on April 14-15 before coming back home for the Kansas Relays in Lawrence on April 20-22.
