Kansas Golf Sits in 6th Place after Two Rounds in Oklahoma

NORMAN, Okla. – Grace Thiry and Emily Powers finished tied for 12th place Sunday after shooting scores of 158 to lead the Kansas women’s golf team to a sixth place finish after two rounds at the Susie Maxwell Berning Classic. The 15 team field will conclude play on Monday with a final 18 holes at the Jimmie Austin OU Golf Course.
Kansas opened the day by shooting a 327 in round one to finish in sixth place overall. Strong performances by Thiry (78) and Powers (74) in the afternoon helped the Jayhawks shoot a 314 in round two to remain in sixth with a two-round total of 641.
Rounding out the lineup for KU were junior Meghan Gockel (82-80—162, t28) and sophomores Sydney Wilson (81-82—163, t32) Meghna Bal (85-82—167, t42).
Oklahoma, playing in their host event, shot a 629 Sunday to take a four shot lead over second place Oral Roberts. Ellen Mueller of Oklahoma and Sara Wikstrom of Arkansas- Little Rock tied for first individually after shooting seven-over-par rounds of 151.
