Position Title: Assistant
Starting Date: July, 2006
Appointment: 12 month
Salary: $1200.00 per month stipend
Duties: Intern will be involved in all aspects of publicizing the University of Kansas’ 18-sport intercollegiate program. Specific sports will include – -cross country, indoor/outdoor track & field and the Kansas Relays. Duties include writing press releases, press guides, game programs and feature articles; coordinating all media activities for assigned sports; working with local, regional and national media; compiling statistics and reporting results to media; assisting in all phases of publicity for football, men’s basketball and women’s basketball.
Required Qualifications: College degree in journalism or related field, previous work experience in media relations office and/or related field. Must have proven written and oral communications skills. Ability to write, edit and produce press releases and press guides. Knowledge and experience with Automated Scorebook, QuarkXpress and Photoshop software helpful.
