<?xml:namespace prefix=”st1″ ns=”urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags”?>LAWRENCE, Kan. – More than 25,000 Kansas faithful welcomed back the 2008 national championship Kansas basketball team at Memorial Stadium, the day following the Jayhawks’ 75-68 overtime victory against Memphis.

Assembled on a platform at midfield, players, coaches and staff were introduced to the crowd as the Jayhawk Radio Network and more than seven television stations carried the event live. Kansas governor Kathleen Sebelius, KU Chancellor Robert Hemenway, head coach Bill Self and numerous Jayhawk players addressed the crowd. Additionally, those in attendance were able to watch the national championship victory on the video board before to the team’s arrival.

Prior to its ceremony at Memorial Stadium, the team was greeted to more than 1,700 well wishers at Forbes Field in Topeka, Kan. Self addressed the KU supoorters as did seniors Russell Robinson and Sasha Kaun.
