<?xml:namespace prefix=”st1″ ns=”urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags”?>LAWRENCE, Kan. – In its final road trip of the regular season, the University of Kansas tennis team will head to the LoneStarState this weekend to face No. 20 Texas and No. 33 Texas A&M. 75th-ranked KU will take on the Longhorns in Austin at 1:30 p.m. on Friday before moving on to College Station to play the Aggies at 1 p.m. on Sunday.<?xml:namespace prefix=”o” ns=”urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office”?>

The Jayhawks enter the weekend with a record of 7-10 overall, 3-4 in the Big 12. Kansas currently sits in a tie for fifth in the league standings with Nebraska.

KU is coming off losses last weekend at the hands of Baylor and Texas Tech. The Jayhawks fell, 6-1, to the Bears on Saturday, getting a singles win from senior Stephanie Smith and a doubles victory from their No. 2 pair of senior Lauren Hommell and sophomore Kunigunda Dorn, which outlasted BU’s 57th-ranked tandem of Taylor Ormond and Jalena Stanivuk 8-6.

TTU then handed KU a heartbreaking 4-3 defeat on Sunday. Kansas won the doubles point, but took only two singles matches – coming from Hommell, who is a perfect 6-0 in the No. 6 position, and senior Yuliana Svistun.

Texas and Texas A&M will add to a KU schedule that has been among the toughest in the country. This weekend’s duals will mark Kansas’ 11th and 12th of the season played against an opponent ranked in the latest ITA national poll.

The Longhorns are currently 12-4 overall and in second place in the league with a perfect 6-0 record, trailing only Baylor (8-0). UT is led by Vanja Corovic, the nation’s 64th-ranked singles player.

A&M comes in 12-6, but is third in the Big 12 with a 6-1 mark. Elze Potgieter, ranked 75th in singles, leads the Aggies.
