A.D.'s Corner

April 10, 2006

Dear Jayhawk fans:

The 2005 Jayhawk Football team put together a very exciting and impressive season. A convincing bowl victory, wins over conference rivals Nebraska and Missouri, record-setting crowds and a perfect 6-0 record at Memorial Stadium have Jayhawk Football fans anxiously awaiting the start of the 2006 season.

Season ticket sales are approaching record numbers yet again. The support of Jayhawk Football fans is remarkable, and has established Memorial Stadium as one of the great atmospheres in the Big 12. I am excited, as I know all Jayhawk fans are, thinking about seeing our home winning streak continue when we kick off on September 2 versus Northwestern State. While we are all eager for the first game in the fall, I wanted to remind you of some key events that will take place throughout the spring and summer.

Our annual Spring Scrimmage is Friday, April 14. The alumni game will begin at 5 p.m. and our 2006 Jayhawks will scrimmage at 7 p.m. We are expecting a large crowd on Friday night, as the popularity of the Spring Game has grown each year under Coach Mark Mangino. Fans will have the opportunity to join the Alumni Association in a free hospitality tent on the hill, receive Jayhawk Football giveaways, and get autographs from their favorite players.

Our select-a-seat event will be held in May. In order to participate in the select-a-seat process, you must order your football tickets and be an active member of the Williams Educational Fund by April 14. Fans will receive their select-a-seat time and parking information in early May. In addition, we are again offering a season-ticket payment plan. Fans who order their tickets after April 10 can pay for them in three monthly payments beginning in June. If you have any questions about tickets, select-a-seat, parking or the payment plan, please contact our ticket office at 800-34-HAWKS.

We have also launched a season-ticket referral program called The Jayhawk Football Challenge. The program will reward season-ticket holders with authentic Jayhawk adidas merchandise each time they refer a person who buys Jayhawk Football season tickets or a family plan. In addition grand prizes will be given to the top three winners. For a complete set of rules and prizes fans should visit The Jayhawk Football Challenge homepage.

Also new this year is a payroll deduction option for all KU Faculty and Staff. Now all faculty and staff can divide their season-ticket purchase over four months and eight pay periods. We are excited to offer this new payment plan and welcome any new faculty and staff into the Jayhawk Football family. Faculty and Staff can contact the ticket office at 864-3141 for more information.

Finally, our Spring Scrimmage will not be the only time we play on Friday night this season. Our game at Toledo has been moved to Friday, September 15, and will be televised nationally on ESPN 2 at 7 p.m. Central time. We are excited to receive the national exposure our program deserves.

We appreciate very much the support our season-ticket holders provide our football program. I have no doubt our coaches and student-athletes will reward your support with an exciting 2006 season.

Rock Chalk!
