Position Title: Assistant

Starting Date: July 1, 2009

Appointment: 12 month non-renewable July 1, 2009 – June 30, 2010

Salary: $1200.00 per month

Duties: Intern will be involved in all aspects of publicizing the University of Kansas’ 18-sport intercollegiate program. Specific sports will include – -cross country, indoor/outdoor track & field and the Kansas Relays. Duties include writing press releases, press guides, game programs and feature articles; coordinating all media activities for assigned sports; working with local, regional and national media; compiling statistics and reporting results to media; assisting in all phases of publicity for football, men’s basketball and women’s basketball. Position includes some travel with assigned sports as necessary.

Qualifications:Required: College degree in journalism or related field, previous work experience in media relations office and/or related field. Must have proven written and oral communications skills. Ability to write, edit and produce press releases and press guides.

Preferred: Knowledge and experience with Automated Scorebook, InDesign, Netitor and/or PhotoShop software.
