Jayhawks Finish 15th at River Landing Intercollegiate

WALLACE, N.C. –

Walt Koelbel fired his sixth under-par rounds of the year to lead the Kansas Men’s Golf team to a 15th place finish at the River Landing Intercollegiate at River Landing Country Club.

Koelbel carded a final day 68 to vault himself into a tied for 19th place finish. Koelbel has recorded four top-20 finishes during his senior campaign.

Senior Andrew Storm shot his third-straight round of 74 or better with a final day 74 to finish tied for 40th place. Junior Bryan Hackenberg shot a 77 to finish tied for 68th place.

Senior Zach Pederson shot a 79 to finish in 74th place. Freshman Ian Anson fired his best round of the event with a 77 to finish tied for 83rd place.

Duke overtook North Carolina State for the team title with a final round score of 280. Matt Hill of North Carolina State won medalist honors with a 10-under score of 206.

The Jayhawks will continue its spring campaign season April 18-19 when they travel to College Station, Texas to compete in the Aggie Invitational. Check back to kuathletics.com for complete coverage of the 2008-09 season.
