Kansas 13, No. 17 Oklahoma State 6

April 11, 2009

Kansas Head Coach Ritch Price

On Kansas’ offense:

“Their pitcher (Tyler Blandford) was undefeated and his numbers are phenomenal, but I thought our guys did a really good job of laying of the sinker that was down in the zone. We also took advantage of some of the walks and hit by pitches and were able to get some clutch hits.”

On playing at home:

“I really believe that ever since we’ve built the (McCarthy Family) clubhouse there has been some swagger to our program that wasn’t there before. Our players take great pride in our facility. They practically live in there, they love it so much, and I think that has carried over onto the field.”

On the importance of nice weather:

“Without question, this is the greatest day of the season so far, weather-wise. You just try to labor through the months of February and March and the cold weather. Then we you get a chance to play on a day like today, it’s almost like you’re in paradise.”

On Kansas’ pitching:

“I was really pleased with T.J. (Walz) today after his great performance against Baylor last Saturday when he was Big 12 Pitcher of the Week. I thought it was really important on a consistency basis that he bring that to the table every week. In order to beat a team that has the offensive numbers that they have and the two starting pitchers that they have out there, you have to pitch as well as they do. I couldn’t have been more pleased with him today.”
