Off to face its fifth-straight ranked opponent, the University of Kansas softball team (27-14, 0-10 Big 12) will travel to No. 24/24 Texas Tech (38-6, 3-5 Big 12) Wednesday, April 13 for a mid-week Big 12 Conference doubleheader. First pitch of the doubleheader is slated for 3 p.m. from Rocky Johnson Field.

Kansas’s defense will be put to the test as it faces the league’s top offensive team. Texas Tech leads the Big 12 with a .371 team batting average. The Jayhawks on the other hand have struggled in conference play and are last in the Big 12 hitting .290.

Sophomore Maggie Hull and senior Brittany Hile headline the KU offense batting .355 and .348, respectively. Hull is riding a four-game hit streak and has five hits and an equal amount of RBIs in that span. Junior Kelsey Alsdorf has also provided a spark from the batter’s box as of late appearing in three games last week for the Jayhawks, each time as a pinch hitter, and responded with an RBI hit in three of her four at-bats to help drive in four runs.
