Postgame Quotes

Kansas 4, No. 17 Oklahoma State 3

April 12, 2009 – Lawrence, Kan.

Kansas head coach Ritch Price

On the game:

“As sick as (Lee) Ridenhour was, to go out and pitch five innings for us today and allow our bullpen to piece things together was crucial. I thought our bullpen was outstanding. It was a tough day to play with the weather and the way the wind was blowing. But it ended up being a great win, there’s no doubt about it.”

On pitcher Lee Ridenhour:

“We didn’t know he would be able to pitch until this morning. He has been brutally sick since Friday night. We were hopeful that with really good medical care, and if he was able to get plenty of rest, then he would be able to go out and give us at least three or four innings. I think today was a wonderful learning experience for him.”

On the production of the middle of the lineup:

“The top of our lineup is really tough and they do a really nice job of working counts and finding a way to get on base. We are 35 or 36 games into the season and (Buck) Afenir and (Tony) Thompson have had great, great years.”

On the upcoming game against Creighton:

“What a great stage. We have to go and play at Rosenblatt (Stadium) and we get to play on national television. I don’t know if it gets any better than that. That may be the best mid-week game in the country.”

On the pitching:

“If you have outstanding pitching then you have an opportunity to come from behind. Our pitching has been really solid all season. Every game we play seems to be a one-run game. Right now we are winning with pitching and defense, there is no doubt about it.”
