Freshmen Lead Kansas Women's Golf to Sixth Place Finish at Baylor Spring Invitational

WACO, Texas—Kansas women’s golf finished sixth at the Baylor Spring Invitational behind strong play from freshmen Meghan Potee and Thanuttra Boonraksasat in Waco, Texas, on Tuesday.

Potee was the top finisher for the Jayhawks for the first time this season tying for 15th after firing a final round 77 to finish the event with a 54-hole 228. Her 15th place finish is a career best.

Boonraksasat rebounded from a tough first day to finish five strokes back from Potee to tie for 29th. The freshman shot a tournament best 68 in the final round, the lowest by a freshman at KU and the second best round in KU history.

Senior Grace Thiry tied for 32nd with a 54-hole 234 including a 75 in the final round.

Junior Katy Nugent and Senior Meghna Bal both tied for 42nd after each shot a 236 for the tournament. Nugent carded a 77 in the final round while Bal finished with a 76.

Competing as an individual, senior Jennifer Clark tied for 35th with a 54-hole 235 including a season low 75 in the final round.

As a team the Jayhawks fired a 296 in the final round, the second lowest round for KU this season.

Kansas will begin post season play at the Big 12 Championship in Columbia, Mo., April 22-24.
