Strauss brings more than 22 years of media relations experience to Kansas. He comes to KU from Utah State University, where he has spent 10 years as the assistant athletic director/media relations director. While at Utah State, he oversaw publicity for a 16-sport athletics program and was the main media contact for football.

Prior to Utah State, Strauss worked in athletics media relations at Oklahoma State University, where he handled publicity for the nationally-ranked Cowboy basketball team from 1988 to 1996. During his time in Stillwater, Strauss gained valuable experience with the successful Heisman Trophy campaign of Barry Sanders and OSU’s 1995 trip to the Final Four in men’s basketball.

The 1987 University of Colorado graduate began his career as a service bureau intern in the Big Eight Conference for the 1987-88 academic year, where he handled publicity for all women’s sports and most non-revenue sports.

Strauss will attend the KU Spring Football Game Sunday and officially start May 1 in Lawrence. Strauss is married to the former Lisa Brossett and the couple has two sons Bradley and Coulter.
