April 13, 2008
LAWRENCE, Kan. –
Freshman Brad Hopfinger fired his seventh under-par round of the year leading the Kansas men’s golf team to an eighth-place finish at the River Landing Intercollegiate in Wallace, N.C. The team shot an even-par score of 288 in the final round to record their top finish during the spring campaign.
“This was the first time all year where we have improved in each round of the tournament and that is a great sign for us going into the Big 12 Championship,” said head coach Kit Grove. “Brad played very well today, but it was just a good solid day for everyone.”
Hopfinger carded five birdies on the day and finished in a tie for 16th place. The finish marks the fourth time this year that Hopfinger has finished in the top-20.
Fellow Freshman Nate Barbee fired a final-round 72 to finish the event tied for 20th place. It also marks his fourth top-20 finish of the year.
Junior Zach Pederson shot his fourth round of par or better on the year with a final-round 72 and finished tied for 45th place. Junior Walt Koelbel shot a 75 and tied for 54th place. Sophomore Patrick Roth carded a final round 79 and finished in 79th place.
