Christine Sinclair, an all-american from the University of Portland, scored the Canadian’s goal off a penalty kick. After playing four matches of its five-match tour of NCAA teams, the 1-0 victory is the closest game Team Canada has played after defeating Louisville 9-0, Purdue 6-2 and Missouri 2-0.

“Honestly, I’m disappointed we didn’t win,” head coach Mark Francis said. “We had a couple of chances to score and certainly they did too. It was 115-degrees on the field but our girls played really well and it was a great learning experience.”
