LAWRENCE, Kan.– –

Behind two hits from first basemen Amanda Jobe, including a two-run walk-off home run in the bottom of the fifth, Kansas softball run-ruled UMKC 8-0 at Arrocha Ballpark on Tuesday in the first game of a doubleheader. Kansas pitcher Sarah Vertelka picked up the victory, her sixth of the season, allowing only two hits and no runs in five full innings pitched.

The Jayhawks improve to 15-23 with the victory. UMKC fell to 14-28.

The Jayhawks started the game with three runs in the first inning led by an RBI single to right field by Liz Kocon and a two RBI double to center from Allie Clark.

Kansas had seven hits in the game, including four in the fifth inning to score five more runs for the Jayhakws and to earn the run-rule.

Clark finished the game with 4 RBIs off of 2-for-3 hitting, both of which were doubles.

Kansas and the Kangaroos will be back in action at approximately 6:45 p.m.
