Moderator: Cole is here and we’re ready to take some questions–fire away! |
Jennifer W. (Madison, WI): Hi Cole! Congratulations on a great college career–my family is excited to follow you in the NBA. Once a Jayhawk, always a Jayhawk!
When you get your first NBA paycheck, what is the first thing you want to do or buy?
Cole Aldrich: I don’t know. I haven’t really thought about it… Maybe a new car? |
Jamie (San Diego, CA): What kind of music do you listen to? |
Cole Aldrich: I listen to all types of music–I’m not really too picky. Rap, country, R&B, rock–All of it. |
Mason (Rogers, MN): Cole–thanks for chatting, man. Who is your favorite team in the playoffs right now? |
Cole Aldrich: Well, since the Wolves aren’t in it…I like the Lakers. |
Kelsey (Lawrence): Who was the toughest match-up you ever faced during your college career? |
Cole Aldrich: I remember guarding Michael Beasley my freshman year for a little bit, he was tough. And Tyler Hansbrough was another really good player. |
Devin H. (Fargo, ND): What is the one thing you will miss most about playing at KU? |
Cole Aldrich: Definitely the fans. And just the atmosphere in Lawrence in general. |
Alexa (Ft. Myers, FL): Hi Cole! We’re going to miss you so much but wish you all the best! Aside from the national championship game in 2008, what is the best memory you have in your three years of being a Jayhawk? |
Cole Aldrich: Late Night of my sophomore year when we hung the championship banner. Or when we played Dayton in the tournament in Minneapolis. |
Casey (Omaha): Cole, you are my favorite KU player of all time. Who are your favorite baseball and football teams? |
Cole Aldrich: Definitely the Twins and the Vikings. |
Kye (Wichita): First off congratulations on all of the well-deserved accolades you have received and thank you for 3 amazing years at KU. My question is: what aspects of your game do you think you need to improve the most upon making the leap to the NBA? |
Cole Aldrich: Thank you. I’ve been working a lot on my footwork and post moves. And my overall shooting. |
Andrea (Denver, CO): Hi Cole, congratulations on an outstanding college career. What are you looking forward to most about playing in the NBA? |
Cole Aldrich: I’m looking forward to the opportunity to play against the best players in the world, day in and day out. |
Ryan (Mission): Are you going to be doing any autograph shows locally before the draft? |
Cole Aldrich: Yeah, I think so but I’m not sure when. I will be at Salty Iguana tonight from 6-7 with Rock Chalk Sports Talk. But right now we don’t have other things lined up, but I will. |
Moderator: We’ll be sure to post information on any autograph signing sessions that get scheduled on the Hoops Blog, which you can find by visiting hoopsblog.kuathletics.com. |
Shannon: What is your pregame ritual and do you have any superstitions? |
Cole Aldrich: I don’t have any superstitions but I pretty much do the same thing before every game–stuff like eating at the same time, and I’m usually the first one on the court to warm up. But other than that I don’t have anything I have to do. |
Nathan M. (Kansas City, MO): Cole–what is your advice to young players who want to try to play in college? |
Cole Aldrich: Just to work really hard. And to set achievable goals for yourself and go for them. |
Cole Aldrich: Thanks to all the fans for your support during my three years, and for joining today. |
Moderator: Thanks, Cole! Alright everyone–thanks for joining us! Great questions! |
Moderator: Also–we’ll host another player chat next Tuesday at 2:30 PM CT with Mario Little.
