COLUMBIA, Mo.–Victories at No 1. and No. 2 doubles were not enough as the Kansas women’s tennis team fell to border rival No. 45 Missouri, 4-3, Friday evening at the Mizzou Tennis Complex.

The Jayhawks dropped to 9-10 overall and 0-7 in the Big 12, while the Tigers improved to 9-8 overall and 1-4 in conference play.

Junior Monica Pezzotti and sophomore Dylan Windom started the day off with a win for KU, knocking off MU’s Jamie Mera and Nina Pantic, 8-4, at the top doubles position. After KU dropped the decision at No. 3, sophomore Paulina Los and freshman Maria Belen Ludueña battled to victory over Maria Christensen and Annemijn Koenen, 9-8 (7-5), to clinch the doubles point for the Jayhawks.

The Tigers then took over, winning the next four singles matches to claim the victory. KU took the final two singles matches of the day with Windom winning and the No. 4 position and Dreyer winning and No. 5.

KU will return to action Sunday when the Jayhawks take on Iowa State in Ames, Iowa. The match is set to begin at noon.
