Jayhawks Fall in Game One at Creighton

Kansas softball lost its first game of a doubleheader at Creighton 8-0 Thursday evening. The nightcap between the Jayhawks and Bluejays will begin at approximately 5:50 p.m.

KU, which dropped to 17-24, committed two errors during the contest resulting in five unearned runs. Creighton improved to 20-17 overall.

Kansas went hitless through the first three innings before loading the bases with a single, error and hit batter in the fourth. Unfortunately the Bluejays worked out of the inning with the next batter.

KU also left runners on base in each of the next two frames but could not capitalize on its opportunities.

Freshman Rosie Hull finished with two of the Jayhawks’ three hits. Fellow freshman Alex Jones recorded the other hit for KU.

Creighton quickly took a 2-0 lead after the first inning plating a pair of tallies after a walk and two hits. In the bottom of the fourth, the Bluejays sent nine batters to the plate and picked up four more runs on three hits.

A KU error in the fifth inning allowed another Creighton runner to score. In the bottom of the sixth, the Bluejays hit an RBI double to end the contest after six innings.
