Kansas Tennis Hosts No. 59 Oklahoma State and No. 43 Oklahoma

LAWRENCE, Kan. –

Kansas tennis returns home to host No. 59 Oklahoma State and No. 43 Oklahoma in two of its last four matches in the regular season. The Jayhawks play OSU on Friday, April 16 at 2 p.m. and OU on Sunday, April 18 at 11 a.m. Both matches take place at the Jayhawk Tennis Facility and are free to the public.

The Jayhawks fell to Missouri and Colorado last weekend, dropping their record to 9-10 overall and 1-6 in Big 12 play.

The Jayhawks are led by sophomores Ekaterina Morozova and Erin Wilbert at the No. 1 doubles spot. Morozova and Wilbert go into the match 6-5 overall and 4-3 in the Big 12 and are coming off a victory over Colorado’s No. 72 Anuszkiewicz/Milewski on Sunday. Also playing well for the Jayhawks is freshman Victoria Khanevskaya, who went undefeated at the No. 6 singles spot last weekend.

The 59th-ranked Cowgirls (8-7, 2-4) are led by senior Nataliya Shatkovskaya and sophomore Alisa Buslaieva at the No. 1 and 2 singles positions respectively. The two play together at the No. 1 doubles spot.

Oklahoma State leads the all-time series with KU 22-16, but Kansas has won the last two matchups.

The 43rd-ranked Sooners (13-4, 3-3) are led by the nation’s 23rd-ranked doubles team of junior Ana-Maria Constantinescu and freshman Teona Tsertvadze. In singles play, Constantinescu is ranked No. 88. Oklahoma’s four losses have been to ranked opponents, but the Sooners have also beaten four opponents in the national rankings.

Kansas leads the all-time series with OU 20-15 and has won the last two meetings.

The Jayhawks will be back in action next Friday, April 23 when they host Texas Tech at the Jayhawk Tennis Facility at 2 p.m.
