After picking up its first conference victory and second upset over a top 25 foe this season on Wednesday, Kansas softball (28-15, 1-11 Big 12) returns home to host No. 15/16 Baylor (32-8, 5-3 Big 12) this weekend, April 16-17, at Arrocha Ballpark. Saturday’s contest begins at 2 p.m. and fans are encouraged to donate non-perishable food and toiletries for troops serving overseas. Sunday’s noon contest is also KU’s Pink in the Park game. Fans who wear pink will be admitted for just $3 and donations will be accepted to benefit cancer treatment and research at Lawrence Memorial Hospital and KU Cancer Center.

Kansas, which will be facing its fifth-straight top 25 opponent, snapped a six-game skid when it defeated No. 25 Texas Tech in the first game of a doubleheader Wednesday night. Senior Brittany Hile has gone 7-for-12 (.583) over the last six games to take over the top spot for Kansas hitting .359 on the season. She also ranks fifth in the Big 12 and 22nd nationally with 13 home runs.

The Jayhawks are five home runs shy of breaking the school’s single-season home run record, which was set in 2005 with 54 homers. The team however will face another strong pitching staff as Baylor is third in the Big 12 with a 1.43 ERA. The Bears are led by ace Whitney Canion, who is tied for second in the conference and ranked sixth nationally with a 0.96 ERA.
