Jayhawks In 11th At Big 12 Championship

LINCOLN, Neb. –

The University of Kansas women’s golf team is in 11th place after day one of the Big 12 Women’s Championship. The `Hawks shot an opening round of 316 at the par-72 6,167 yard Country Club of Lincoln.

Oklahoma State holds the early lead with a 301 followed by Texas A&M with a 302, as just 16 strokes separate the first and last place teams.

“I am really pleased with how Sarah Kierl played today,” head coach Erin O’Neil said. “We still have two more rounds and we can move up considerably if we get the entire team on the same page and playing well.”

Sophomore Sarah Kierl leads the Jayhawks after a career-best 76 has her tied for 10th. Senior Chelsey Pryor and junior Amanda Costner each shot a first round 79 and and are tied for 32nd. Senior Meredith Winkelmann and sophomore Annie Giangrosso each carded an 82 and are tied for 47th.
